The digital revolution has been analyzed and commented on since 1979 at the Ars Electronica Center, the "Museum of the Future". Thus, every day, Ars Electronica puts a variety of visions to the test and constantly reinvents itself.
The Schlossmuseum Linz is considered the largest universal museum in Austria with impressively extensive collections and a perfect combination of historical and modern architecture. Here you can get an insight into the cultural, technical and natural history of Upper Austria on more than 18,000 m² - from the beginning of time to the 21st century.
The Lentos Kunstmuseum not only offers works of modern and contemporary art in a special ambience, but also impresses with its impressive architecture the cityscape of Linz. Exhibits include works of art from the 19th century, classical classics such as Klimt, Schiele and Kokoschka and Expressionism, all the way to contemporary, contemporary art positions such as VALIE EXPORT. Breathtaking is the oversized "picture frame", which breaks through the building and for a beautiful view of the district Urfahr and the Pöstlingberg releases.
Nordico City Museum
Get acquainted with the history of Linz in the Nordico City Museum with insights into the history of the city as well as various temporary exhibitions on various topics. Here you will find a comprehensive collection of photography, art, archeology and folklore.
Pöstlingberg & tram
From the Pöstlingerbahn, the viewing platform, the photo gallery to the zoo, the Pöstlingberg offers more than a breathtaking view of the city and the Danube. At the top of the mountain of Linz you can enjoy coffee and the best Linzer Torte. With the Pöstlingerbahn you can drive right to the top of the Pöstling or from the top back down to the city.
Contemporary History Museum & Steel Worlds
Whether in the exciting world of steel or the contemporary history museum, Austria's largest industrial location invites you to discover the most modern technologies of steelmaking and to complete the dark beginning years of voestalpine. The voestalpine Stahlwelt presents an internationally unique world of experience in which everything revolves around the material steel. From the innovative manufacturing process to the finished product, here you dive into the world of steel.
The Landesgalerie Linz features contemporary and modern art and photography. The focus is on everything the art history of Upper Austria of the 20th century has to offer. Some 1,000 paintings, room installations and sculptures can be admired here.
The Brucknerhaus serves as a concert and event venue and is modeled after the famous composer Anton Bruckner. This special venue is characterized by its outstanding acoustics and outstanding architecture. Every year numerous festivals and concerts take place, as well as the annual Brucknerfest.
Open-Air-Gallery Mural Harbor
With more than 300 versatile, impressive and sometimes oversized graffiti by 30 international artists, old industrial buildings and house walls have been rejuvenated. The port of Linz shines in new, creative splendor. Mural Harbor offers a variety of ways to discover the artwork with a guide and then immortalize yourself with the spray can.
The OÖ Kulturquartier is the link between the Land Culture Center Ursulinenhof and the Open House of Culture. It also includes the Upper Austria Art Collection, the Moviemento Programmkino and various restaurants, bars and cafés. Events and changing exhibitions, the program cinema of the Moviemento and the gastronomy at the OK Platz make the OÖ Kulturquartier a lively and inspiring meeting place for young and old.
